    using Corkys

    Who uses Corkys on Sabine lake?Which models are the best and what colors seem to work best?I see there are floaters and sinkers,which is best? I want to go buy a few and wanted to get the right ones.Any info would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

    I suggest doing what I did....buy about 750 dollars) worth (original, fat boy and devil), so you have all your bases covered!!

    Honestly, color is arguable overrated...saying that it's all about water clarity for me and I have honestly caught fish on every color I own. If it doesn't feel right (mean I am lacking confidence), I just change.

      I like the dayglo fatboy sinker. I throw it out count to 5 and work it just like a topwater for about 10 twitches and let it sink on a 5 count again, repeat. Color is a preference thing. I really like the devils also. Cold weather I slow it down but the way I work it is similar. Also, dont overlook the maniac mullet. Along the rocks on the revetment walls this can be deadly, keep a loose drag!!

          Go with the broken back's! My dad, Bruce sells them for Mr. Brown. Color is arguable but pink and anything with chartreuse has been hot.

          It is topwater season though!! Save those corkies for cooler weather!

                  Mr Brown is still making Corkys? Last I heard he had sold out.

                    He sold out to MirrOlure and there was already a company out of Florida called "corky" and because MirrOlure is big and didnt wanna get sued they changed the name to Paul Browns Original.

                    Then Mr. Brown retired just south of Lake Charles, La. He started making more and continues to call them Corkys but the new ones have swivels in the middle of their back. You oughta see these, I'll try to find some pictures.

                        I'm a big fan of the suspending fat boys and the devils. Never have tried the broken backs before but I bet they will work.

                            The broken backs are killer but I prefer the original. Color is strictly based on water color/clarity. The fatboy is great when casting into a stiff north wind. I am definitely disappointed in the mirrolure corky, hooks bend/break and after a good bite it is not easy to get the bait to swim right. Mr. Brown had a good thing going till mass production took over.
