One of those situations where we both just stopped trying to control it and let our lives be what they were meant to be... 2 months later and the wife is sick as a dog daily and the fun has just begun
Honestly, I have never been a huge fan of other people's kids, there are a few that I love to death, but most kids in public really annoyed me... So I was never they guy who was mad about not having them. But when I turned 30 a year ago, I started getting really depressed and mad about the possibility of never having a child.
I let go of the anger and we conceived right about the day of our 10 year anniversary and my 31st birthday present was a sonogram picture and hearing my kid's heartbeat for the first time...
I'm geeking out, but I don't care. I'm pretty dang excited and happy happy happy!
Congrats, and you are getting your child on the right path. If you get excited about the heartbeat, wait until he/she cries for the first time, smiles at you, says, "Daddy" or "I love you," asks to pray at dinnertime, falls asleep in your arms, asks for a hunting story at bedtime, or tells you he needs a new bow or a light for his pistol. And what will really choke you up is when your oldest who is starting high school and growing up too fast anyway says "thank you" for raising her and giving her advice because she knows she can't do it on her own. Dang it. Cut me deep.
It can be frustrating and scary when you live your life a certain way for so long, but rest in the Lord and only worry one day at a time. Enjoy.

Congratulations!
We had been married 16 years, when my wife asked me one night around midnight "Hypothetically speaking, if I thought I was pregnant, would you want to know now, or wait until I was sure?"
We ran to the store for the test. When it showed positive I told her "Well, this changes everything."
Our Daughter just graduated High School 2 weeks ago.
Enjoy your new journey.
