    Javelina question

Why do the counties in South Texas put a bag limit on javis? How do they enforce it with out tagging them like you do deer?

Same way they enforce dove and quail limits I guess?

Just because they have tags, doesn't mean people don't reuse them or, after they have used them, claim to have lost there license and get a whole new set. While there are laws and game wardens to enforce them, there's still a little honor system involved.

Why would you want to harvest more than two a year????

I have never even seen one. I was just wondering. I always assumed that they do damage like hogs do so landowners would want them gone.

Apparenlty, you've never hunted in around an area where 20 of the little corn sucking *******s suck your feeder down in 14 seconds.

we call them "hoovers" (after the vaccum cleaner)

they can clean your feeder out in a matter of minutes, but an arrow with a fender washer will get rid of them after a shot or two. Theyre really neat to watch when you dont want to trail them up, but id rather have javies than beef critters ANY day of the week!

Javi's are a blast to stalk, but they can suck the corn up quick......not sure why the 2 javi bag limit, but the only way to enforce it is through the integrity of hunters........

IMO this is why they are controlled. Javi's have poor eye sight and are very easy to hunt down. Not too many people like them and if allowed they can be easily wiped out of your property. They are not like pigs that have multiple litters a year with up to a dozen little ones. On avg. they only have 2 pups in a litter. No too many people are fond of the meat, but I can tell you it is delicious. I personally would much rather eat a pig, mainly because the Javi's stink so darn bad and I really don't like messing with them. Rest assure that you will get fined if the GW finds that you killed one and left it to rot. They are a protected species. Now, if you let them be they can easliy get out of control and like the others have said they can eat some corn. I've litteraly seen them eating corn while laying down in the middle of the road cause they're so darn lazy.
