I had a New Holland TC40 4x4 on 20 acres of trees, hills, and sand. Handled everything I put it through. That is the smallest I would recommend if you can afford the additional cost. If the 29hp is a great deal, give it a try. They seem to hold their value if taken care of. You can't beat a New Holland.

I bought the New Holland Workmaster 55 last year. For me, it has enough HP while still being light enough to trailer with my Tundra.

My suggestion is to get a FEL and 4x4. The 4x4 really doesn't do you much good in the mud. However, these newer tractors are much, much lighter than tractors from the 90s. As a result, you need the 4X4 to get that power to the ground without spinning.

Always get a size or 2 bigger than you think you need and always get one with a bucket.. Learned the hard way.. Haha

I do some work for a rancher and he has me running a New Holland. I believe it is a 35 horse. Cool little tractor that's easy to drive and operate. When mowing or scraping though, it seems you do have to run it at a significantly higher rpm than my Dad's 40 horse Deere. Like others have said, bigger is better. I figure a 40-50 horse would be perfect for a 200 acre place.

Might also consider a BobCat. Strong, versatile, and there are implements for anything under the sun. And, with the shredder attachment up front, they are more safe. I had a friend hit a stump on a tractor. Bounced off the seat and fell under the trailing shredder.

The specialized implements cost a fortune and the short wheel base will have you beat to death.

I bought a 65 hp New Holland new in 2008. Its been great. Not one problem with it. Its really big enough but I wish I had gotten 4wd.
