I have an ocean kayak it's a Venus 11 and it is built perfect for women!!! I love it! The only bad thing about my kayak is that there is not a lot of storage space. Typically my husband stores most of our fishing tackle so it works out well for us. I would stick with a sit on top! They're tons of fun!

I have a Malibu X-factor and Ocean kayak big game. I also just bought my nephew a Malibu eXtreme. I'd avoid Malibu's atm even though I love my X-factor. Problem with my X-factor is it keeps cracking. I think I've had it welded 4 times now. We had my nephews shipped and the center hatch won't close.

If you do decide to buy a Malibu go with a new one so they will warranty it if you have issues. They will not warranty a second hand kayak.

            I'm looking for two.

            1 for my wife......5'04" 120 lbs

            1 for me.......5'11" 175 lbs

I want to stay in the bay, mostly Matagorda East bay and fish for specs and reds.

I'm looking for middle of the road price $500-$750 for each
You are looking for a sit on top as a sit in side will be too easy to roll...use to have some 14.5s. There are several good ones out there. Google sit on tops online and check them out. I think ocean kayak has a good rep. Cheers!

Problem with kayaks is there is NO perfect all around yak. Get a yak that will suit what/where you will be fishing 80-90% of the time. I had a ride 135 and loved it for lakes and bigger rivers....that thing was not so good on tight rivers like the San Marcos. That's where I fish the majority of the time. Sold it and got a Jackson coosa. The coosa doesn't track that well on open water, but it turns on a dime in the river! If your going to be in the bays, the pescador should suit you just fine. I would look at getting a ruddered yak.
As others have posted, keep an eye out on TKF. Folks always sellin and tradin.

Only one mention of Hobies. Is there something about them you don't like? Price maybe? Mirage drive?
