      Thanks for the replies

      I'm looking for two.

      1 for my wife......5'04" 120 lbs

      1 for me.......5'11" 175 lbs

I want to stay in the bay, mostly Matagorda East bay and fish for specs and reds.

I'm looking for middle of the road price $500-$750 for each

Pescador for a good all around new yak. Or look on tkf for used. Used yaks are not bad. Wilderness systems, ocean, or perception.

Most places that sell and rent Kayaks will let you rent all you want and apply the rental to your purchase. That's what I did mine.

I would go with the SOT (sit on top) kayak

            Perception Caster 12.5

            Wilderness Systems Tarpon series

Jackson Coosa, Cuda, & Big Tuna (two seater)

Shane, keep an eye on Craigslist for yaks. New ones pop up on there every day.

There are good deals to be had if you stay vigilant.

I bought a Perception Caster 12.5 SOT with paddle and life jacket for under 300 bucks, and a wilderness Systems 10 ft. with life vest and a 100$ paddle for under 300 bucks as well.

Or go custom and build it just like you want it.

In that price range I would go used. There is an Ocean Kayak Scupper Pro on Tkf for $540. That would be a great boat for you or your wife. If you plan on paddling any distance I would not go much under 14'. Try to spend on the low end of your range and use the difference to buy the best paddle you can afford. I've used everything from the cheapies to top of the line and my Werner Performance Core was the best investment I've made when it comes to kayaking.

Get a sit on top kind and not the sit in kind. Makes it easier to get in and out of.

Fishing Tackle unlimited is having a demo day some time in April I believe. You can try out all the different ones they carry and see how you like them

Any quality kayak in the 12' range for your wife and a 12-14' for you ought to do it. Tkf has a classified you can find that kinda yak for that budget used and practically brand new

You can find plenty of used Wilderness or used Ocean Kayaks in that price range. Excellent kayaks.

I have a 2008 WS Ride 13.5 for $600. rigged with 3 scotty flush mount rod holders.

stable enough to stand and fish in the bays, paddle a mile or more offshore and handle any river or lake.

if interested, message or email me
