    6.0 Powerstroke

    I'm having to buy a new truck due to being hit on the interstate and totaling my truck. I am wanting a 4x4 diesel and I would prefer a duramax or cummins but see the market is flooded with 6.0 fords for fairly cheap prices. I know ford had a lot of problems with the 6.0 and don't want to get into any major repairs after spending that much money on a truck. I have heard a dpf and egr delete could fix the issues but it depends on the truck. If I am wrong let me know and please tell me what kind of mpg's the 6.0's get. Thanks

    I believe there some more work to be done on those motors to make them right. For instance, I believe they recommend head studs due to the stock ones being weak and stretching threads pretty easily.

    My brother owns one and I believe he spent about 4k to make it right. The, another 2k on extras like exhaust and intake.

    Bottom line is, they're ticking time bombs until you drop the money into them Ford should have to make them dependable.

      Don't do it keep looking. My nephew just dropped $8k getting his 6.0 all fixed up.

        Make sure when you check em out, fire it up and let idle for a few minutes, then pull oil fill cap and check for blow by. I owned a used one once and a few other I've looked at were terrible. Common in the 6.0's.

              Stay away from the 6.0 unless your going to drop a Cummings in it. Then you'll have a great truck.

                My dad used to have a 6.0L and he spent so much money keeping it on the road he could have bought a new truck

                  I would agree with this. I went with a 7.3 and happy with my decision. Paid more for an 02 than I would have for an 07.

                            There is a guy that offered me a 7.3 crew cab dually 4x4 6 speed manual trans for $7500 has 300,000 this morning I believe it is a lariat.

                              I've had no issues.. But that being said I change my oil every 4000-4500 miles religiously change fuel filter every other oil change didn't put a programmer/chip on it.. Drive it like a responsible adult..
