Besides the Hydrolic deck, is there that much difference in the two mowers to warrant that much change in price? I plan on goingby soon and checking them all out.

I have the Hustler Sport 48" w/ Kawasaki engine and Love it - I have used my neighbors Hustler Super Z a few times before I got mine when I was deciding if I wanted to buy one or not and other than the bigger cut (60"), Hydrolic deck, and small speed difference I could not find anything that justified the extra $2,500 difference. I don't mow at top speed so the top end speed doesn't matter to me in the least (THE BEST part about it is that after I let my wife mow with it the first time I pretty much lost my yard duty because she wants to mow. She will literally drop what she is doing and beat me to the mower if she sees that I am about to go mow). I bet I didn't mow 3 times last year and we mow our place 3 times every 2 weeks

I bought the Hustler Fastrac Super Duty, 54" with a 25 horse Kawasaki. It's a great mower, I went heavy duty because I'm pretty hard on my stuff and my pasture is pretty rough. I liked the way the mower was built, and that it had the big air cleaner, and better hyd pumps than a lot of others.

My only complaint is that early spring when the weeds are full of water you have to clean out 15lbs of green gooey vegetation based goo from under the deck after every use.

I've had a Hustler Z for 6 years and just replaced the battery. I am over the maint. dept at a school system and we run EX Marks and John Deeres and I would put the Hustler against any of them. It also has the Kawasaki engine on it. Gravely amkes a pretty close second, tho, just throwin that out there too!!!

Ok fellas, I'm really digging the Scag Freedom Z! I checked out the Exmark Pioneer, and plan on looking at Bad Boys tomorrow.

I have 3.5 acres. Toro commercial bought it used from dealer, took it on trade in. 19 hp Kawasaki.48 deck. cuts very well. 600 hours on it and it still performs well. YOu can find used ones for half the cost. I found this one in Waco. A big gravely dealer.

I don't have any recommendation on the model, but...I do recommend getting a larger deck than 48". I used to mow about 2.5-3 acres, so I know how much time it takes. A 60" deck should allow you to do the job in 3/4 the time it takes vs a 48".

Have a Hustler 'Mini Z' with Kawasaki motor, 42" deck. This is one tough mower, and I put it to the test regularly. Another vote for Hustler.

Just got off the phone with the Hustler dealer, and the Bad Boy dealer. I'm really impressed with the Hustler dealer! He can get me in a 2012 model 54" Fast Track for the same price as a 48" Scag. I love the quality and warranty of both Scag and Hustler, and none of the dealers seem to have anything good to say about Bad Boy. I don't know if it's because they are newer and taking business, or if they really hear bad things. The Bad Boys come with bigger motors, hydraulic decks that are thicker, and several other features at a cheaper price.... Their warranty is not as good, and the local dealer doesn't seem to have the reputation that some of the others have. I'm going to try and test drive them all on Saturday.

I'm going to go by the Bad Boy dealer closest to me (Hoffpauir in Burnet) to check out the CZT 54" next week sometime.

I'll let you know what I find unless you pull the trigger on one before then.

Just guessing you can get a much better deal on the 2012 anyhow.....

I've got the itch pretty bad, and there is only one 2012 model left! I think the trigger will most likely be pulled soon!

I looked at them all and wound up with a Scag Tiger Cat 48" and wish I had bought it 10 years earlier. I mow 4 acres, 2 1/2 acres is pasture, in less than 4 hours. This includes mowing around 30 trees, push mowing 2 backyards and edging around the houses! Whatever you get will make you happy, happy, happy!
