the fastest easiest and best thing i have ever tried was a cheapo bottle of isopropyl alcohol, nothing will dry it out faster... bleach can deliver serious and long lasting burns by itself,, i found out the hard way years ago,,, alcohol is your friend

Milkshake injection to the left cheek way left of the cleft. Usually at the after hours clinic when everything else fails.

Ivy Dry works good, not sure what is in it.

Also you can use pickling lime, add just a drip or 2 of water to a small amount to make a thick paste. Put it on the rash and let it dry/ fall off by itself. It will dry it up
DO NOT cover with anything or it will chemically burn your skin.

X2. Unless it's real bad, then I go get a shot.

The resin from various parts of the plant is what causes the skin reaction and itching.

Tech-Nu was the answer for me. It breaks down the irritating oils and neutralizes them for two hours after exposure.

Even after the rash and itching starts this product is effective at soothing the area and eliminating all the residual resin oils.

Tech-Nu is on my hunting pack list........always.

Spray anti-persperant. Dries it out quick. What has worked best for me.

Severely allergic to poison oak. Nothing beats a shot from the doc! I have also used a poison oak scrub that really helps prevent a rash breakout- Called Tec-Nu (I think) you can get it at Walgreens or CVS.

I tried bleach once. It took months to recover from the chemical burn of bleach (yes it was diluted) and I won't do that again if you paid me. A simple shot from the doc is the best, or any number of prescription ointments are available. With modern medicine now, why even consider anything else?

I do not get poison ivy but I have been told the berries off of polk salad ground up and used as a salve will work on it. I know polk salad is poisinous if eaten and not cooked correctly so I do not know if I would try it or not.

I am very allergic and have used most everything above. All work at times on me but not always. I keep aresol spray can of cheap hair spray around. It will seal the area and stop the itching for several hours.
