My stepmom's brother Bud, took me and his little brother Brett,(maybe 14 0r 15) gave us both 30-30's somewhere down in south Texas,he told us to sit behind this old feedstore on this dirt mound and shoot whatever comes down this alley way/type roadway and don't move and wait there till he got back, we both got a doe and Bud came back with a 9 pt buck in his truck.
It was crazy, can't do that kinda stuff anymore.

MY ex brother-in-law got me started when I was 12. I still try to get together with him to hunt and I am now 29.

Dad and grandpa just as most here. Brought myself into bowhunting. Uncle got me into fly fishing and I returned the favor to him with hunting. Now I am working on my sisters and little brother since my faster and grandpa have now passed on.

My grandfather bought me a 20 gauge shotgun when I was around 10 years old.

We went over to the neighbors when we got home from the gun show and I got my first lesson in shooting clay pidgeons. I think I went through 3 boxes before I finally hit one, but once I did, it was over! I had a heck of a headache and a sore shoulder to show for it. He took me hunting and fishing but never did get the chance to take me deer hunting. When he died, he left to me a P.O Ackley Custom made Mauser .243.

While he never did get to go deer hunting with me, I harvested my first buck ever with that same rifle in December of the same year he died. I may go on to shoot a lot of animals in this lifetime, but I doubt any of them will ever mean as much to me as the 10 pt I have on my wall.

I blame it all on my dad and his dad!!!! I killed my first hog with my westpoint .30 30 (my first gun my gpa bought for me when I was born) my dad used to corn directly in front of our box blind in hopes that hogs would get close, one mornin they did....really close like 7' from the blind lol, dad stuck the gun out the window and i pulled the trigger! I cant remember much if my highschool years.....(young dumb and alotta bad decisions) but i remember that day like yesterday! I was immediately hooked and have been broke as a joke ever since! My gpa taught me a ton about freshwater fishing, mainly crappie and catfish.....he's the reason I could care less about a bass lol. Love those 2 men and have them to thank for it all!
