My dad. I can still remember like yesterday even though 35 years ago going with my dad to a small family place in Bastrop county. I would sit(or sleep) on the ground under the ladder he hunted in. Not many deer in the area and it was buck only and never got to see him shoot a deer but wouldn't trade those memories for any trophy buck. I lost him several years ago and just crying like crazy right now trying to type this. Took my son (Matthew/79F250) to the same place for his first hunt. Ain't he cute!Click image for larger version

I never actually shot a deer on that place but they were some of the best "hunts" of my life.

I actually harvested my first deer while hunting with my FIL. Shot 2 spikes about 10 minutes apart on some lease near Uvalde. Still love hunting with him but nothing better than hunting with my son

My dad bought my brother and I m-16 pellet guns. My first kill was a cardinal, made my mom cry and I was the proudest kid in the world but then felt bad. After that, cardinals were off limits.

He then got me a Benjamin 22 cal and I spent my entire weekends in the woods chasing squirrels and busting rabbits.

My buddy David Juenke got me started deer hunting at 21 years old. No one else would take me when I was a kid growing up so wasn't until later that my hunting addiction began.

My whole family was involved in hunting in N. Calif. went out on my first hunting trip at 3 mon. old. Got my first deer when I was 16. 4x4 Calif. Blacktail.
My great grandfather, in my avatar, was a big game hunter all over the world in the early 1900's. he hunted with Bill Foster who started a saloon in Rio Vista Calif. where we displayed many of the taxidermy from him and my great grandfather.
The place is still there today. It is called Fosters Bighorn cafe now and still displays the animals and photos.
If you are ever in that area outside Sacramento it is worth taking a look at.

My Dad. Loved it all. Hunting, fishing, you name it. Died in 1987 and think of him daily.

Born an raised in the East Texas woods. Started following my dad when I was able to keep up squirrel hunting. Went with dad on many a deer drive and saw lots and lots of deer killed in front of the hounds. I killed my 1st at age 6 with a single shot 22. No telling how many deer would be in my neck of the woods if it hadn't been for all the hounds My dad and uncle's had. I could tell ya some stories but most wouldn't believe

I had a friend take me and his son on a hog hunt when I was getting out of the Army, liked it but never saw myself going any farther then that until I met a friend at work who brought his bow in one day and I asked him if I could shoot it. Well the first 3 arrows I shot at the target were close to his and I was hooked, got on the TBH website shortly after and I still have yet to go bowhunting but I'm almost there. And for the record I got my wife and my oldest daughter into wanting to bow hunt. It's so exciting.

My hubby. Wouldn't have done it without him. He talked me into giving bow hunting a try. Best decision I've ever made. Nothing better than spending quality time in the woods with your best friend.

Dad bought me and brother bb guns at a very early age, then bought us benjamin pump pellet guns. Dad only hunted dove and duck rarely. Grew up looking forward to Sept 1st. It was the only day of the year dad would let us miss school.

I met some guys in highschool who deer hunted. Bought my first rifle when I turned 18 which was in July, went to my buddies place just outside of Austin and shot 2 does opening weekend that season. Talk about a mess, the biggest animal I had ever cleaned was a rabbit. My buddies wouldn't help me clean either deer. Looked like I was the one shot..

Those guys, Greg, Marty and John are still some of my closet friends. we still make a weekend every year to hunt together. This yr will be 33 yrs since then.

Still have that rifle, Ruger M77 .270.. both my sons took their first deer with it too.

Dad never had any interest in deer hunting. He enjoyed fishing and camping. we were able to get him to the lease a few times and he would just hang out with the grandkids.

My dad. He bowhunted occasionally, but mainly quail hunted when we were young kids. I asked for a bow on either my 12th or 13th birthday and he bought me one from T & Sons when it was open on the square in Denton. After that he got into bowhunting more and we did a lot of hunting together until I moved off to college. Now we try to hunt together as often as we can. He goes by Buster K on here.

I remember hunting with my grandfather, but that was early. I guess I owe it to my uncle who took me quail hunting. I still love watching those dogs. These days it's more ducks and dove than quail, but I would trade a month of ducks for one weekend of quail.

My dad. Been hunting as long as I can remember. Shot my first deer out of his lap when I was 8 years old. I actually got him into bowhunting a few years back. He killed his first deer with a bow at 74 yrs old.

My dad and his family is what got me into it. They hunted for as long as I can remember. Some of my best memories are in Llano with my dad and my Paw paw. However, my dad is the one who got me into bowhunting. He bought me my first bow when I was 16, and even though I only saw 1 deer that year, I was hooked. Daddy is still my favorite hunting buddy. I wish we lived closer so we could still hunt together. My favorite hunt ever was the last time we got to go to Rock Springs together. It was just the two of us on that trip. Neither one of us got a deer, but I got a pretty good sized hog, and a great memory.

I hope someday we can do it again, or something similar with my two boys.

My dad was the first to take me into the woods. He had leases over the years and I went on countless hunting trips with him. Shot several whitetail and hogs and it wasn't until I was 27 that a friend put a bow in my hand. Ever since my first bow kill, I've been hooked!
