Try something if you can. While he is standing, flip a front paw over so the top of his foot is on the ground. Do it a few times. Does he flip it back immediately or does it take time? Try all four feet.

Will test his paws when I get home tonight but have noticed him standing with one front paw tucked under as AGVET2004 described. Is that indicative of something specific?

Makes a neurologic issue much more likely. Cheryl had a very good thought about Wobblers, definitely a possibility. Others affecting the spinal cord are possible as well. It sounds like he may need some advanced imaging. If it is Wobblers, it can be dealt with surgically. He won't be a high energy hunting dog, but can live a good life.

Dang I hope you get it figured out. As goofy as our boy is, I'd hate to have something like this happen to him. It's our first Wiem also. Gotta love these dogs. Have they checked his ears also for an infection. I'm thinking it might cause some balance problems, kind of like Vertigo.

Not to be overly optimistic but I just let him out of his kennel and he ran across the house without slipping or falling. He is by no means 100% but is a little better. Appreciate all the well wishes

Geriatric Vestibular Disease. My catahoula had this and I originally thought it was a stroke. From what I found, chronic ear issues such as infections, or ear mites help lead to this. It is vertigo for dogs. Mine had the horizontal eye nystagmus, stumbling, vomitting, etc. He cleared up a day or so later but has a permanant head tilt now.

Any update on your pup brotha? This particular breed has really captured my heart and I like to learn as much about them as possible. I hope your boy is doing better.

Just made one of the hardest decisions of my life and had my best bud put to sleep. He had been doing okay but this morning his condition worsened dramatically. Letting him suffer just didn't seem right. Now I have to figure out how to explain to my 3 year old little girl why her Murphy dog isn't there to meet her at the door . . .

Love ya Murphy and hoping the good Lord has a place for sweet dogs.
