I've never hunted north Texas but I'd have to say hill-country around Kerrville for one reason (variety of species) or Tilden to Carrizo Springs and south for big WT.

Hunted quite a bit in Tilden and Dilley area. That would be my favorite, the biggest down side is the sheer expense of South Texas. Crazy money.

Honestly, I think the best quality for the money and hunting opportunity is in the Abilene-Ballinger area. Great deer there, lots of animals, varying types of terrain. Yep, I would hunt there again in a heart beat.

Western hill country because I can't afford south Texas.

Hunt all over texas and this one place that I hunt and feel like a TRUE giant may step out is 5 minutes from my door at Ellis Island.

I've hunted in the hill country (Llano), Throckmorton, Stephenville and far north east Texas. Llano was my favorite. The whitetail were small, but a 120" deer there looked huge and got the heart pumping. Never got skunked there either. There were deer everywhere and the place had audad on it. Of all the places I killed my biggest deer just north of Stephenville and it was by far the cheapest...

I have been all over hunting different ranches. If distance wasnt in the equation, I would hunt Webb county first, Refugio county second and Shackleford County third. But because in the real world distance does matter, I have to flop one and two on my list. I hunt in Refugio county.

I haven't had a chance to hunt all the regions but from what I've heard they all can be good.

Texas Big Game Awards has their categories updated with this past seasons kills. Pretty neat seeing what each county/region consistently turns out.

I have not hunted deep south Texas enough to form a good opinion. So with that caveat, my two favorite areas are Shackleford County around Albany and right along the the Red River from just east of Wichita Falls to about I-35. Love that area because the terrain has a little of everything - a few mesquite flats, deep heavily wooded draws and creeks and some big woods right along the river.

Back in the mid 90's I was on a lease about 6 or 8 miles north of Pandale. Hands down my favorite area of the state. It's fairly remote, at that time, lots of game--deer, varmints doves, quail, great terrain. Just was too stinking far from home.

I've never heard of Pandale so I Google-mapped it. Man, talk about the middle of nowhere! I love remote areas like that. I bet you can see alot of stars at night.
