I just got my first bar MU a month ago on 2/6/16 and I went into this WOD with a realistic goal of 3 rounds. I broke my snatches up into 2 sets of 5 on every round. On my first round I missed my first MU, got two, missed my third and finally got it on the next try. After that my MUs clicked and I didn't miss one for the rest of the workout. To say I was ecstatic to get 5 rounds would be an understatement. That's 15 MU in one WOD and I bet hadn't done a total of 10 since I got my first one.
    Great job guys -

Hit 76 this morning, tried for a 5 min EMOM and started falling short around the 4m mark. My muscle ups are very inefficient lol, kicking and chicken wingin it over the bar. Gonna work on some technique and try again Monday, I want to hit 78.

I think a clean and jerk type grip would be better also, instead of a wider snatch grip, my forearms were blasted.

Ok redid it this morning and got 106. Much closer to what I was expecting for this workout only advice I have is to have your judge keep you on a pace you can keep. Mine was 45 to 50 seconds per round. Good luck guys and great job so far.

Agree on the clean and jerk grip, mine was a mix between snatch and clean and jerk. It did give my lats some rest.

50-55 sec splits should get you there. If you come out hot don't worry just get back on pace by round 4 you should be good.

I tried to stay around 3 sec per snatch at the later rounds and release your grip at the top. Stay strong guys this is a tough one but its only 7 min you just got to push

89 reps on my 2nd go just now. I did it as an OTM again with a narrower grip and was able to get all the muscle ups unbroken till the last set. I also hook gripped for the first time and it helped my grip a ton...like my coach has been telling me it would!

Great job guys! My bar muscle ups were horrible. Spent all my energy trying to get over the **** bar. Got a whopping 57....ugh

Man that's a good number on this, my MU'S are ugly too lol, and they cost me today, I hate wearing hand wraps...

Well, since I really hunt ever done bar MU until Friday morning I call my 50 reps a success. Felt good and wasn't particularly tired. Just started failing them at the end

Tony maybe you should sit this next one out.

Ouch - *****. But, I'll take it. Scores are embarrassing, but I'm proud of the progress. Had a debilitating back injury 10 years ago. 1st back surgery 7 years ago. Been putting off a fusion ever since. After years of working out in gyms on my own, I started CF in June of last year, but I'm pretty limited on mobility. Some movements I just can't do at all because of my back, like deadlifts. Others i excel at.
Tried my first muscle up (bar or rings) ever, 10 minutes before doing 16.3 yesterday. After a couple fails, i got my first one. Got my second one when i did the 16.3 workout, but couldn't get back up. Jacked my back up when i was aggressively thrusting my hips up for the MU. Oh well. Getting old sucks. Nagging / irreversible injuries suck even more.
