17 hmr will put down a ear/head shoot hog. At about 75-100 yards.

Fun round to shoot and 200yrds - in low wind it is made to head shoot coyote's. The 20gr. V-max is a good choice.

Will it? Yes, but not the ideal caliber if you've got options. I rolled a big yote at about 40 yards (behind the shoulder) and he jumped up and ran off into the brush. The typical "thwap" was extremely loud, and hid did a full flip. My buddy, who was calling, and I just looked at eachother dumbfounded.

Successfully killed other yotes and javelina with that same rifle, but that one experience sticks in my mind.

I shot a yote with my 300 Wby around 160 yards and he did the same thing. He made it about 80 yards with no lungs. It happens sometimes I guess.

Hornady 20 gr v-max. Head and neck will put them down. Behind the shoulder at 100 or less yards will kill them but they run a bit.

Yep. The 20gr V-Max. I can group em good on paper out to 200. Haven't tried any farther. Not sure how lethal it is past that but 100-150 you should be good with coyote or hogs.

I loved my .17hmr! Great cartridge!

anything will fall if you put the crosshairs right behind the ear, or aim for the left eye

Nothing wrong with a .17 and they leave a lot more hide.
