I have stained concrete floors and I fretted about the diming of the polish, stains, etc, but now I understand that I can polish it whenever I want by renting the polisher. Most of the stains eventually disappear - except where the dog got sick. The stomach acidic / runs were highly acidic. Everytime I polish, it looks better. I'll never go back to carpet.

Understanding this about my floors is good, because I also understand my granite won't need this extra care.
Thanks so much, DB, that is all very good to know.
Part of our remodel will include ridding ourselves of all (nasty!) carpet (might put new in two of the BR's, though...still pondering that). We were going to go with hardwood and/or laminate. If I was going to do a new build, I'd sure look hard at concrete floors - the ones I've seen look wonderful. I hear you about the dog effluent issues :-). But as long as I live there WILL be one or more canines in my household, so it's a moot point .
    They will be accommodated.

Red colored substances such as Kool Aid are not the friend of concrete or limestone counters.
