Very, very nice BigPig. That is an awesome bar.
Thank you. I have since replaced that TV with a 120" screen and a high def projector. Pretty fun little place for baseball season.

          The concrete bar now.

This was at Christmas. We have it out in the man cave to keep all the people out of the house

If this was my cave, everyone would be p****d because they couldn't watch tv with someone (me) constantly behind the bar!! I love it though man! Gives me a great idea…

I have them in my two bath rooms. I poured them my self and in place. I experimented on frames about 2'x2' first and determined that I cannot trowel concrete worth a spit. I got my buddy to do it for me and you could see your self in them even before the finish went on. !3 years now and no problems.

Well if you are ever in the area give me a holler. Both fridges are always full of free cold beer and you can shoot a pig from the back door (with a rifle)

I've seen some that look really good and some that look really bad.

I would be concerned about using them in a food prep area because regardless of sealing it is still a porous surface.

My brother poured concrete counters in his house when we remodeled it. I wasn't present for the pour, so I don't know how hard it was, but they turned out great. In the downstairs game room, he poured a bar with a rough edge, kind of like one of the ones posted above, and it looks awesome, like fractured sandstone with the stain he used. Upstairs in the kitchen, he did a sort of bull nose, and stained them to look similar to a dark vegetable tanned leather, they also look great. As far as I know, he's had no problems. The really cool thing about concrete....to me is....if you're handy with tools, you can do it yourself and save some serious coin, not so much with granite or other natural stone. You can either build them outside and bring them in, or pour in place, which I think would be easier and give a seamless finish. Overall, I like them and want to put them in my house when I build.

My mom wants concrete countertops but the wife and I haven't seen enough of em to know if we like em or not. These pics look awesome though! Might have to consider them.

concrete is a lot more labor intensive. driving up the cost.
I poured the concrete directly into the forms built on counter tops...they look good now, but were a pain to put in. I would go granite unless you want to be truly unique.

I used to install cable for Galaxy Cablevision back in the day. Hubbard and Dawson were the southernmost towns in our area.

I looked at the cost of granite and concrete. Granite was about 1/2 the cost last year when we built, but costs change constantly so the evaluation should always be done.

I have stained concrete floors and I fretted about the diming of the polish, stains, etc, but now I understand that I can polish it whenever I want by renting the polisher. Most of the stains eventually disappear - except where the dog got sick. The stomach acidic / runs were highly acidic. Everytime I polish, it looks better. I'll never go back to carpet.

Understanding this about my floors is good, because I also understand my granite won't need this extra care.
