I once considered them to be "warm ups" for archery targets that mattered. I'm not very mad at them these days.

They can definitely be cooked and eaten and they're not bad at all.

I want to hunt them, bad! I have never had the opportunity to take one, and will clean and eat any that I kill. Also, I want a nice one for a mount!!

Season with black pepper, corse ground sea salt and BBQ sauce let sit overnight in the fridge place on cedar plank and slow smoke 12-14 hrs....then throw the meat away and eat the plank!!

If the fleas are bad while cleaning/dressing them, spray yourself and even the javi down with Off! or other bug spray. It'll make those fleas head for the hills.

We used to have them at our place in Karnes county and between shooting a few here and there and the hogs they have pretty much disappeared. I kind of miss them as it at least gave you some entertainment. I wouldn't shoot them unless they were overrunning the place. They only breed 1-2 a year and have no more than 2 offspring so they can be controlled unlike hogs.
