I have had the same issue, this year I killed the my best bow buck to date and for some reason I started having issues. I lost a doe two weeks after I killed the buck so I started practicing as much as I could and before each hunt. At times I would be dead on than I would start shooting all over the target??. I did start using both eyes and closing one before I released this seamed to help but I'm still not happy with the arrow placment this year. I think it's time for a change in equipment. Not with the bow just the release. This is a good thread.

look, we all deal with target panic and anybody who says otherwise is lying to themselves. while changing release types may help you it only covers up the root of the issue. for some the change in release type is a welcome distraction to what is causing the issues to begin with, that would be your mind or a physical issue with for such as too long a draw length. however, without understanding what causes this to begin with some are destined to re-live the issue further down the road.
for me it was more about worrying about how the shot feels rather than poi. poi will come together with proper form and practice. we all have good days and bad days the secret is having the metal to continue to do what is right which will benefit you in the long run.

From my research I found that TP is caused by the battle of the Subconscious mind telling your conscious mind commands that it shouldn't. Kind of like driving a car during rush hour and having a backseat driver telling you what to do. We all just drive and don't think about it, eventhough It is quite a complex set of movements and rules to follow but we all do it as second nature and without giving it much thought, if you start to think about it your movements and adjustments to the road and/or traffic become more abrupt and clumsy.
When I was a finger shooter I dealt with TP for a couple of years and nothing I tried worked until I was made to shoot a clicker. This and reading a few books helped me understand what was causing this panic.
Shooting a heavy release helps a lot IMO shooting a light trigger release only makes it worst. Shooting a heavy spring release makes you stay on until the release goes off. Your mind quickly learns to aim and wait until the release goes off or else the arrow will be badly off. Shooting a heavy or stiff spring release helps because it occupies your subconscious into concentrating on the making the release go off smoothly and your concsious mind on aiming.
