I love my Otterbox but have heard good things about Life. Even heard you can use under water to take pics

I have both. Otter box for daily use, and lifeproof if I am around water or out in the rain. Right now on eBay and amazon, iPhone 4, 4s cases are on close out super cheap. I got a hunter orange camo case on eBay for $20. Academy still has it for close to $70. My lifeproof case from amazon was $15.

Lifeproof!! I have had both and the lifeproof is lighter, thinner, and protects your phone from more elements. The speakers don't work very well with the lifeproof though.

I have the Life Proof. A pain in the rear if you want to use the head phone plug. You have to have an adapter that will reach down far enough to plug into the hole on the phone through the case. The charging plug also takes some getting use to but can be easy once you get used to it. It is waterproof up to 7 feet from what I read. I did test it without my phone in it (like you are suppose to do) and it worked. The attachment to carry it on your belt is 1,000,000,000% junk. Big and bulky to say the least. Mine lasted approx 3 months before it broke and I trashed it.

Best bet is to try something else for less money.

I have a life proof and like everything about it except for the fact that I can't hear that well when talking on the phone, but part of that can be due to the years of shooting without hearing protection.

              Why all the asterisks?

My vote is for the life proof case. I've had both cases and really didn't like the otter box because it was hard to get out of my pocket and got full of dust really easy. I liked the life proof because it fit in my pocket better and didn't get any dust in it at all. The only down fall to the lifem proof is that it's hard to hear ppl talking sometimes and the speakers seem muffled.

The new Otterbox Armor will be out in Feb. might want to wait and check it out. I might be the only person who's Lifeproof didn't last but 7 months, it worked great until the screen protector came out. Not sure what happened I just looked at it and it was coming out, it never would stay in after that so I trashed it and went back to my Otterbox Defender. I will be getting an Armor once they are out.

If it's for a 5, I would go with Otterbox right now. The lifeproof for the five has some issues. Weird vibrations (reverberations when talking on the phone), I absolutely could not hang up a call. The proximity sensor doesn't work right. I tried two different ones from Best Buy before giving up and going with a Defender. I absolutely loved the lifeproof on my 4.

I just keep mine in a Speck case and when I'm doing something out in the field I will move it to the otterbox.

Check out the Seidio "Convert". If I didn't need my Lifeproof so bad because I'm a plumber, I'd still be using my Seidio.

i have both. i use the otterbox for every day use, it is better protection against drops. when i go fishing or in the boat or kayak i put the lifeproof on.
