I just read the review on this. How do they compare to Slick Tricks?

Are Ramcats considered fixed or mech?

We had totaly differant out come using them. Lost a couple animals, broken blades, bent blades. Dont think we will try them again. I hear(see) good things about them, but man we didnt experiance it. We only used them for one season(deer, elk, javelina) but that was long enough.

Ramcats are fixed blades, but the blades are replaceable. I love mine, I've had good luck with them. The one time I didn't, it was because I switched arrows and didn't realize the blade tips contacted my riser.

Lost animals probably weren't because of the broad head imo... that being said I have never shot an elk size animal with them. Tons of deer pigs and axis though and when I have lost animals it has always been my fault with shot placement.

I have bent and broke many blades over the years but I really dont mind they are cheap and easy to replace.

I've shot one animal with them. Not a good blood trail at all. She only went about 40 yards. But I blame the high shot placement ( high lungs ) with that said the cavity didn't have time to fill up to start spilling blood cause she only went 40 yards. I might try them again

You can do a search and find my 345" 6x7that had a live weight of 1000 lbs fall to a 100 grain Ramcat. 2 complete pass thrus at 38 & 44 yards with no blade damage. Bull went only 20 yards.
I concur also about not blaming your broadhead for lost animals. If you cannot find the animal there is no way to know for 100% sure where and what the arrow hit. Sorry.

I know one of the mule deer looked like a good shot, but we believe the blades may have broke on the ribs on the entrence side. Arrow came out of deer after about 10 yards and two blades were gone.(did not recover) Even had blades bend on javelina, and all the other heads we have ever used on them never had one bend or brake. Shot a slick trick through the shoulder blades of one javelina (broad side)and then passed lenght wise threw the one behind it. And no damage what so ever.It did brake the hip on the length wise javi also. But obviously we just had bad luck with them. I just wont shoot them again.

I said it above and I will say it again probably not the BH's fault for a lost animal. I have had the "looked like a god shot but never found the animal before" also. If theses shots passed thru the animal how do you know for sure what they hit after the pass thru. I admit i was not there but i have had the opposite results on a bunch of animals here and in Africa. I personally know of a gentleman that got a complete double lung pass thru, short tracking job with a 100 grain Ramcat and a 60# bow on the world's largest antelope, a big bull Eland.

If your referring to me and the mule deer, arrow did not pass thru.Only way blades could have broke were bone or he stepped on it after it fell out.Not likely due to the arrow being off the path, but dont know. Not saying they are bad heads, alot of people hear seem to have a lot of faith in them. Just we did not.

I can understand that. I too have had experiences like that from some other heads, not loosing animals, but poor penetration, lack of a blood trail, but fortunately found the animal. Even finding that animal, I lost confidence in that head as you have. I completely understand. Not meaning to bash, but maybe I did, sorry.
