TPMS for 08 Silverado LTZ question

Finally a subject I can help with: There are two different things going on here....
The REBUILD they are charging you for is a little kit...(rubber o-rings, etc.)....the kit costs them about $3.00 and they charge around $10 for the rebuild. It IS recommended by the RMA (Rubber Manufacturers Assoc.) that the stem kit be rebuilt everytime the tire is broken down. Think of the o-rings as being a wax ring on a toilet...once you set them...they are done...must replace when you pull it. Same principle with these o-rings. The SENSOR is a completely different animal. Those are quite pricey ($50-$100) depending on vehicle make...these only need to be replaced when the battery goes out, they are damaged, etc....shelf life on these sensors is 6-8 years. So...if they are wanting to do a TPMS rebuild....they aren't trying to rip you..they are following proper recommended protocol. If they are trying to sell you new SENSORS when yours are working fine...that's BS. FYI: They have a scan tool they use...have them show you your sensor readout...it'll tell you battery life, etc..... Good luck.
