I believe there is an inherent difference between making a profit and just seeing how bad you can shaft someone. It kind of reminds me of some of the car salesman threads. Some of the same people bragging on the free enterprise system would be some of the same people posting a rant thread about getting screwed. I have to agree with Mavrick on this one. I feel it far better to fair than brag about how bad I put the screws to someone. Some where along the line a person needs to have a conscience.

Huge fan of the free market here.... But apparently there IS a cap on how much you can ask for something.
The points are valid. It's hard to "rip off" a person willing to hand the cash over. With these AR15's, no one really needs them, they just want them.
I'm starting to wonder if this is just the tip of the iceberg for The black market.

What I think it comes down to is a "friend" type deal. Most people "cut" their friends deals. People on the GS screen consider others on the GS as friends. So people find it "rude" to even ask for a price that we all know is overpriced.
I'm guessing you could tell the story of getting $2500 for a cheap AR from a random person off the street and most here would tell you "Sweet" but you price that same item to your "friend" and now your a jack wagon.
As far as me I dont care what you ask for something. I will pay what I think its worth at the time and nothing more. If your number is in that price range we might strike a deal if not oh wellLast edited by one66stang; 12-25-2012, 06:10 PM.

I think the OP made a great point and not sure how you can take advantage of someone that is willing to pay the price asked. The prices are crazy without a doubt but it is the same way on the auction sites and gun stores thus taking 900 for a gun that now may market for 1500 would not be smart for the seller either.Seems to me to be a evil cycle but at same time getting upset over prices really makes not much since as you dont have to pay if you do not wish to.

I agree with what your saying. And it would surprise you to know some things about certain folks here!! An Internet appearance may be totally different than in real life. Some don't like me here, but I'd bet they would if they knew me.... Then again maybe not lol. It IS funny to see what certain folks say or how they act when the cards are in their favor....

I wasn't so naive to think that some people aren't crooked shysters...I'm sure some are. i just don't think that overpricing something that is a luxury and not a necessity is even close to price gouging. The bottom line is that if even one person agrees to pay that inflated price then THAT was the market price. The buyer ALWAYS dictates the market price, NEVER the seller. You wanna be mad as someone be mad at the people willing to pay $2000 for a bare Bushmaster. They're raising the market price for a bare Bushmaster to $2000. Simple as that.
As far as giving deals to our "friends" on the GS that is a choice...and maybe not everyone is your friend. I've given away much more on this site than I've ever sold, but that too is a choice. I've bought a lot of things out of the classifieds and NEVER felt like I was owed a good deal. I sometimes felt as if I got a great deal, but I never felt like I was owed one. I felt like I got whatever I was buying for a price I was willing to pay....therefore setting the market price for that item.

Great point.I don't like the idea of $4 diesel. I have to buy about 20,000gal per month so I get it. But until the market corrects the pricing, that's the way it is.
Do you think the government should set a cap on what fuel companies can charge you for diesel?
