How do I get my information off the Internet?

I was bored tonight, so I googled my name, and I found some disturbing info.

Just about all my information is online! My address, phone number, wife's name, date of birth etc...

How the heck do I get this stuff OFF the internet?!

..... and I don't think you can get it off of there. Too many points of access that are public information.

If it's there, it's probably there for keeps. Can you get it removed? Only if certain sites have it and if theyhad it chances are it's in somebody elese data base by now. Look at it this way .... If you have a phone, your name and address is sin the book (unlisted number don't cound, unlisted numbers are availaable).. There is simply no way you can keep name address etc from being avail on the net. The best you can attempt to do is keep access to financial info secure. Good passwords, avoid Micorsoft products (highly unlikely), use single access financial products such as (as much as I don't like them) Paypal. The advantage they have is that if something goes awry you know exactly where to to. Checks? Anybody that even sees one of your c hecks has access to your account routing number. CC card same differenc. There is no certain way. Want a look at your house? Google Earth or Google Maps will give you a closer look than you want. I can even spot some deer stands with google earth.

Not what you wanted to hear, but it is what it is. This is the world of the world wide telephone book with no unlisted numbers.
