Tikka t3, also I have a Stephens 200, it's a savage 110 action, that is a tack driver and one the least expensive rifles on the market

A7 is a great rifle if you can find one. Tikka's shoot great but looks like a Remington 770 to me, just an ugly action....

I completely agree with the Tikka but will add the T/C Venture to the mix. Great shooting gun, very nice trigger, and affordable price. Made in the USA.

As good as they shoot, how smoth the action is, and how great the trigger is I can deal with ugly. I put a b&c stock on one of mine and I think it looks pretty good.

A remington 700 in a .308 is about as good as it gets. In my opinion its the best bang for your buck. And the remington 700 action is about as reliable as you could possibly get as well.

Just my 2 cents hope it helps.

Seriously though, I will fondle several before I decide. Thanks for the info as I figured most would be good guns.
I did this several years ago...had my heart set on a 7mm mag. I looked at Ruger, Remington 700, Winchester Model 70, Browning X-bolt, Savage...I ended up going with Ruger M77. With that said, I also wn a Model 70 and a Savage 110...of all my guns, I like the Savage ou of the box.

I'd really consider stainless, I'm getting to where I wish all my guns were.
                                (I'm about 50/50 right now)
