I would use a gas powered bush trimmer. Or a big weed eater with a saw blade on it. Shoot ive got a dr-9 bush mower too. My wife cleared 2 acres of clear cut with it.

Or u could try the board and rope trick. Get u a piece of 2x4 4-6' long. Drill ya a hole in each end. Put a piece a rope through it and let the loop come to about waist high. Use it to "step" down the weeds. Use one foot on the board and the rope to hold it to ur foot.

Be a grim reaper and kill the weed with vengeance!

Trimmer with saw blade is awesome!!

Hope you find a solution for this without breaking your back. Good luck.

I use hedge trimmers all the time. In fact, our lease bought a set just for clearing roads. Weed eaters work great on lighter stuff, but the hedge trimmers will knock out those 1/2" mesquites, and up to about 2" if you really work it.

I've used the weed eater with the saw blad attachment and spent half a day cutting cedars 2-4'' thick. Hard work but it worked well

A chainsaw, large branch clippers, a pair of leather gloves, and an ice chest of cold drinks. It's not easy. Helps to have some buddies with you.

Wouldn't want to break a nail though

You could pay the neighbor kid(s) by the hour to do it with a machete.

If I was closer, would bring one of my diesel smoke belching behemoths out to slaughter the weeds and saplings. Can almost hear the weeds screaming now.

Sorry, I love me some good weed killin.

My alternative suggestion would be to round up a lot of vegetarians and buy several pallets of salad dressing.

This. I bought a Stihl several years ago with this blade and it works great on everything under 2" in Duvall County

This year I put my jeep in 4wd and drove back and forth in the tall grass to open up a lane for a popup.

My brothers bad boy mower that has a 72" cut and some clippers for the small trees, made short work of clearing a lane
