Looking for some input from you gunsmith guys again. What grain bullets do y'all shoot out of your 7 mags? I'm gonna be getting one here soon and intend on shooting the max bullet weight it can handle probably, so that i can get the best longer range energy out of it. What do you guys load and how far most of y'all shoot?

I think this depends on the twist rate of your barrel as to what grain it will shoot best. Or at least give you a good starting point. You can determine the twist rate by inserting a cleaning rod with a brush, mark the rod where it enters, mark 12" up the rod. Push the rod in and count the revolutions until you hit the other marked spot on the rod. This will give you your twist rate. Example if the rod turns 10 times then you have a 10:1 barrel. Then you can look up the bullet manufacturer of what you want to shoot and they will give you an ideal twist rate for that weight bullet.

the man I guided last weekend shot a nilgai bull at just over three hundred yards with a 7 mag using a 140 grain bullett...We never found blood and the animal managed to run about 80 yards...he made a solid shot though and I was confident we could find it...just before that I had him on the biggest, blueist bull everstanding at an estimated 120 yards...good thing he froze and couldnt get the shot off or we would still be there trying to load it

My 7mag is very picky in what it likes to shoot... It does like a dirty barrel though... Took a bit to figure that out....
And when you change Scopes make sure you remember to tighten the ring screws... Its shoots god aweful if you put them in there, get side tracked and then set it back in the safe... Theoretically speaking of course... No way id be that scatter brained...
