    Barndo Build 2012

This my current project. 40x50x20 ft wall for house, 40x60x14.5 wall for barn/carport. i kinda forgot to take pics throughout the dirtwork process. it was a long stressful task and ultimately just a hole in the ground then filled with new dirt. this was what i woke up to the first morning of real progress. i have many gaps in the timeline. i am contracting it myself as well as doing some of the labor i can with the help of friends. i am further along but i will post a few pics over the next few days until i am caught up. hope yall enjoy.

I ended up hiring a company to skin it and build the barn/carport on the side.
they did a great job and were fairly quick.

Red dot in athens did my buildings. A few struggles with them but my salesman was awesome and ended up being my main contact to get issues settled thru the build. If interested I can hook u up with him. Great guy and a hunter as well. I've been working on it since july. Its pretty much my second full time job. Ill keep yall updated.

The more I see these the more I like them. Are these substancially cheaper per square foot to build than a conventional home?

There's so many options on finishing them out. I would say that you could save a substantial amount depending on ur finish out. Mine will be a little cheaper but the main costs are still there as far as foundation, structure, insulation, septic, a/c, etc... I believe mine will finish out between 60 and 65 dollars per square ft of living space, but that also includes the barn. If I were single I could have gone for a much smaller house and probably got in around 45 or 50 per sq ft doing much more myself and taking my time with it. But me, wife, and child are living in a camper right now (just over a year). Things are getting cramped. Lol.

this is the front of the house ^^^^. for some idea, the long window on the left is over the kitchen sink, the windows to the right of the door are in the living room.

the front door faces south, so this will be our sunrise side and south side.

some more guard dogs on duty at the balcony. you dont want to tangle with the one on the left.
