What county is it? If you pen them up so they don't go back to the owners place, you can bet your left foot the sheriff will pay you a visit for stealing cattle.

If that doesn't work, then call the county animal control(sheriff department) and tell them ou have suspected CWD cattle on your place. They will show up then. Bet.

Just climb down and chase them! Loads of fun, you can even pick up a rock along the way and chunk it! Make lots of crazy noises too!

You better find out who owns the land you're hunting before anything else. Could be bad for you and your group if the owner doesn't know what's going on.

It differs by county, but in Texas sometimes it is the landowners responsibility to fence livestock out. So whoever owns the land you are hunting, it may be their responsibility to fence them out, not the cattle owners to keep them in. Old open range/ closed range law. And I really can't believe you asked if you could shoot them, of course you cannot.

I always have a few arrows with some rubber thumper tips in my quiver just for that occasion. Just hit em in the but so u don't do any permanent damage.

Maybe contact southwestern cattle raisers association. I think they might be able to help ya out with the sheriff.

But if there's a lil distance and your a sadistic sort then steel ball bearings is the way to go. Don't know why lead black powder balls won't work just as well.
Shoot one of the meatier cows to eat. Beef. It's what's for dinner!!!!
                      Just Kidding!!!!

Seriously though, steel ball bearings at any range is fine. Doesn't have to be a certain distance because their hide is plenty tough. Trust me I know. While growing up, we owned a bull that wouldn't stay home. He loved the ladies and tore through fence on a weekly basis. Horses and four wheelers no longer worked to herd him home. Grandpa got tired of this one day and went home. Came back on the tractor with the .410 and bird shot. Gave the bull 30 yrds and let her rip. Bull took out a couple trees gettin to the gate that led home! Believe it or not, the .410 eventually lost it's effect so the old fella had to go!

The land we hunt is owned by my company. The land in the back was owned by a guy named Otto. We are seeing the cows out there and on the camera. I haven't hunted that spot yet because of the cows. The sheriff wants to push it in the county livestock guy and he doesn't like to do anything but rode horses. One of the cows has been shot with bird shot it appears. I have a picture of it on my laptop at work I will upload. It has small holes in a shotgun pattern all over it's back and side. Wish the guy checked on his cows more often.

At some point do cattle become feral and if not branded or tagged can you claim them as your own? I mean what does it take to herd them into a trailer and go sell them off your property.... I'd ask w lawyer, maybe find the owners address send registered letters if not addressed you get the cattle, t-bones for all
