    Cows at feeder

My company has a small tract in Manor that us service guys hunt on. There are some decent deer. This year has been a problem. Cows come everyday and eat at the feeder. The fence was drive over by the fire dept a couple years ago. Silly us we thought they might fix it or pay for it but that's another story. So we fixed the fence and now they are going
Around through another property to get to ours. The guy with the cows should be responsible to fix his own fence but were not sure who owns that land anymore. Can I shoot em ?

Can't shoot them if you don't know who they are.

oh..and dont shoot the cows either - call the Sheriff.

hog panels or fences around your feeder work well. Eventually, they will just avoid the feeder. At least mine do.

shoot em all.... with a sling shot, its fun and they dont like it, so they quit coming around. Aim for the sensative spots. Other wise they swat their tail at where they were hit. Nose, utters, ........

I sling shot em myself. The lite plastic marbles are ok for close range and fairly cheap.
But if there's a lil distance and your a sadistic sort then steel ball bearings is the way to go. Don't know why lead black powder balls won't work just as well.

I shouldn't have to do that. His cows are trespassing.

Comes down to he fixing his fence. You fixing his fence, or putting up a fence around the feeder. It also deters hogs, if you have those. Depends on how much fence there is to fix and the costs involved.

Paintballs. They may not stay away long term, but you will feel better.

I would strongly suggest not shooting the cows unless you have a very healthy check book. Call the sheriff and let them deal with his roaming cattle.

                            Call the sheriff.
If you force the issue, they'll impound the cattle.

You have a crappy/lazy sheriff. Keep pressing the issue, call them every time the cow are on your property. Too late now, but remind him he will be running for re-election again.
Tell them you're going to run them out of your gate onto public road.

A co-worker's bull got out of his back pasture into a cemetery across the fence on a Friday. Sheriff's office called him on Monday and he had to pay impound fees for 3 days even though they never contacted him when the bull was impounded.
