    New custom rifle build suggestions

Going to build another custom rifle but can't decide on caliber.

The build will consist of the following:

    Stiller Predator Action
    McMillan McSwirly Stock
Matte Black or Black cerakoted flutted barrel

    I have most calibers from 270 Win, 6.5 creedmoor, 243, 223 ect....

I think I want something a little bigger....
Maybe: 300 wsm or 300 WM

6.5x284 Norma would be sweet but it's right there with 270 and 6.5 Creed

What other calibers should I consider?

    300 RUM
    338 L

    I'm fixing to order a .260

300 RUM and Lapua are great rounds but I don't want to put a muzzle break on.

I forgot to add that I want to keep this rifle in the 8-9 pound range.

For a long range hunting round look at 7mm STW. That would be my choice for a build!

I agree with your 300 WM/WSM idea. Looks like you've got the smaller and middle calibers covered. 338LM would be a BIG step up so 300 would fit nicely.
And the 260 / 6.5x284 / 6.5 Creedmoor are so close that it would be too much overlap.

That said though, that's what my next project will be - a 6.5 sumthin.

So who's barrel are you going to use?

300 wm ammo is much more reasonable and no so hard on the shoulder as an ultra mag will be. I do have a break on mine. If you reload go with a 30-378 roy. But you'll likely need a break.

338-06. Awesome round. Recoil close to a 30-06 but with the bigger, high ballistic coefficient bullets of the 338 caliber. My next rifle build will be a 338-06. Good luck. So many to chose from.

Probably Hart or Kreiger. I really want an ABS carbon wrapped barrel but haven't convinced myself to spend that much on just a barrel

My buddy shoots a 7mm UM and loves it. It's a great distance round but not too bad on recoil.
