Good luck. I failed to recover a doe last year, despite many hours of searching. It's a sickening feeling. I hope you find her.

[QUOTE=D_Mcvay;6106044]I dont think its worth bringing dogs in. I mean if it was colder out side i think you would be fine but its warming up fast. I know the feeling. This last weekend i lost my first buck with my bow, jumped it three hours later, with tons of blood everywhere. Plus it had a double main beam. But meat wise if you dont find it by 11:00, im not sure about how good it would be. Its not a good feeling to loose a deer in my opinion, doe or buck. but it is a doe youll have another chance. And we only bring dogs in if its a really good buck or a trophy. We were not going to bring dogs in for that double main beam buck we lost. Dogs are not cheap most of the time, so you got to think $300 for a doe to be tracked.[/QUOTE
well if i kill one over 200 you will be the first i call... Sounds like you and your dogs are only valuable for trophy pictures! Good luck finding your doe wish I was closer i would come help!

---Update--- walked around quite a bit and found no trail, the fields have weeds growing 5 foot tall and thick as thieves. She could be anywhere. I know I got her good but it looks like she got away for now. I watched her for a while but lost her in the weeds. I don't know what I could have done differently. My first whitetail with a bow has become a ghost. I've learned more in the last 3 weeks about hunting than I ever had before. SWIG for the doe that got away.

Just keep searching man, Im sure she is out there somewhere. My first deer was a doe in the same instance as you, except I gut shot her and watched her run 300 yards into a tree line across a field. Found one spot of blood where I hit her and that was it. Found her later that night in the creek right on the inside edge of the tree line.

$300 if you don't like the guy.
Most will come out for little cost at all!
If my dogs could track I'd do it for training and nothing more than a cold drink for me and the dogs.

Yes unfortunatelly that happens...
Usually a deer well hit will lay down and remain there until it dies, if she got up and continued may be because of two things (both involving pressure) could be from your side or by another animal, perhaps a coyote or if you inmediately tried to recover her right after the shot not allowing her time to bleed.
When a wounded animal is pursued inmediately its inners can block the broadheads hole not allowing blood to come out that can be the reason for not finding any blood.
Not just because it`s your very first bowhunting trophy, we as ethical hunters are ever obligated to search and find any animal that we shoot, I know you`ll find it if you calm down and start a detailed search with or without dogs.
Good luck buddy
