    Space heater caught on fire..

Son of a buck, the old heart is a pumpin'!

The wife's little space heater just caught on fire. We got it put out but the whole house smells like burned wires. I hate those **** things and told her I didn't want it in our house due to fire possibilities when she asked for it. She's always cold like most women no matter what the temp is in this house during cold fronts and likes to have the little heater next to her when she is laying in bed, reading or watching TV. She said she looked over and it was on fire. She unplugged it and came running to get me in my office. I chunked it out in the back yard and grabbed the hose. Fire alarm went off as I was running to our bedroom.

I just took it apart and some metal piece covered in a silicone looking type material failed. The wires coming from the wall go through it and then into the upper part of the heater. It and the wires were burning.

Glad she wasn't asleep when it happened with me in here. Could have been really ugly.

Never again in this house. Momma is just gonna have to be "not happy" this time.

You folks that use them all the time, be careful out there.

    Buy her some wool socks.

Man that's scary. You're very lucky.

I hate them too, can't say I never use em. But I use caution when I do. If you do use them a lot make sure to clean the dust out of them from being stored, one of the main reasons they catch fire other than electrical failure.

You need to build her a fire place Jason .

Seriously, glad no one was hurt, and hopefully no loss on the house.

She has one....and a gas one at that with one click lighting. She just likes that **** space heater right next to her.

But ....not anymore. It scared her more than me. The ironic thing is I went back there to check on her earlier and saw it on. She knows I hate it and she just said "I don't want to hear it!". I told her she was going to burn this house down one day....and now.....here we are...

Well, you could always tell her she needs to snuggle up to you to keep warm .

Yep, it's getting around to that season of the year when folks start running the space heaters. As much as I hate it, those things keep me in a job. About the only thing that causes more house fires is unattended cooking and MAYBE improperly disposed cigarettes/smoking in bed. I don't even like the Scentsy warmer that Kaitlin insists on plugging in every day.

I got two oil filled heaters I read that they are some of the safest.
