kyle do you work for an environmental company? Ive drilled alot of monitor wells , soil borings , air sparse wells , even a 1300ft monitor well with continuous coring at the "wipp"site outside of carlsbad,nm. we have 4 rigs here in granbury 2 of which have a 3000ft capacity
oh wow i guess i have now hijacked this thread !

I was a remediation PM for a refinery several years ago. believe it or not....they had a "few" issues with leaks... especially in the pipelines.

I can believe it. But in Montgomery County you probably only had some clay and sands and they typically aren't all that bad to drill.

Hunt County on the other hand has some particularly nasty Cretaceous shale, some artesian flows, and some flowing sands. He'll never make 500' with this rig up there.

My neighbor drilled a 75' well with a machine like you are talking about and that was in pure sand with a little shell thrown in. It wasn't easy, but he did it. The hard part was putting in the casing. I very seriously doubt you can do 500' with a one-man DIY machine.

gonehuntin who did you use? I know that I am probably out of their normal range but it can't hurt to ask.
