I have a question for the LEO's, just to see the responses. I already know the answer, but I can bet someone will get it wrong. Let's say I was stopped for speeding and somehow got searched and you found this on me. Would you get excited and start arresting for felon in possession of a firearm. Click image for larger version

By law as a CHL holder I'm required to show an officer my Id and my CHL Id if I'm carrying or have my pistol in my truck

The first thing I tell them is I have a pistol in the truck and will step out if they would like me to. That way the officer can feel safe

A LEO has no business asking where you are going. Last I checked, this isn't a communist country and you don't need papers to travel from Point A to Point B.

I always say "that way, down the road". None of his **** business!

I know a lot of cops and 95% are great. But man the bad apples sure do spoil the rest!

not to start a fight but why not just answer his questions honestly and move on.

guy puts his life on the line every time he walks up behind a car . . . . . if I forgot to use my turn signal then i broke the law. Petty? maybe but it's still the law.

he didn't arrest you for the firearm so apparently he knew well enough to not worry about that.

finally, and to clarify I was told this as well, but if your going to carry why not just get your chl. not only does it allow carry but I think it lends a bit of credibility to who you are.

Some people still want to use your right to remain silent. As far as CHL goes I know several people that are gun nuts but don't want anyone knowing it. They said they have the second amendment as their CHL. Also don't want any weapons in their name. Most believe the revolution is coming soon so feel the government will come for people with guns first. Just throwing this out there.

First off, that is a firearm by definition as it expels a projectile by a burning substance.

Second, under federal law (I think) as it is a firearm manufactured before 1899, it does not have comply with FFL requirement or felon in possession. State laws vary however and a state can define anything it wishes as a firearm under its state laws.

Texas law is similar (or maybe the same) as federal law in that as far state weapons laws, a firearm made before 1899 or a replica of such a firearm has no bearing on state firearms laws ..... unless the firearm uses a cartridge or as state law says, a rim fire or center fire ammo.

As long as the firearm in the photo has not been manufactured or modified to use cartridge ammo, it has no bearing on felon in possession laws. If it is an a antique in appearance but actually fires rim or center fire ammo, it is just like any other firearm and illegal for a felon to possess.

The cartels use bumper stickers as identifiers a lot of the times. John deer logo, grim reaper and the MGM lion are common.

Do you have any bumper stickers on your car?

Thank you very much for your reply. I was beginning to think this thread would die out. You are correct. Its not very accurate, takes 5 minutes to reload and kinda a pain. On the other hand its what can be legally owned. Texas law states 5 years after your sentence is over you can legally possess a firearm in Texas at your home, now federal law says never. Do local LEO's arrest for a federal crime or leave that up to the fed's ? Hard to say for me cause I know a guy that got arrested for felon in possession in Waco, but he was released because it was a federal crime and they didnt want to pick it up.

Also, next time get the cops agency, name and badge. Contact his shift commander and notify them of the incident so that officer can be schooled. You'll be saving the public from being harrased and you'll actually be helping that officer so he doesn't get his butt in a sling later when he falsely arrests some poor guy and ends up getting sued.

The government coming after those with guns first makes as much sense as going half way around the world with hundreds of thousands of troops to "seek out and destroy" someone like Bin Laden. Freakin waste of time, money, lives, and bullets! But let em come get my guns… I double dog dare em!

Do any of you stop to think that these simple questions are a way of detecting deception? Ask the same three simple questions on almost every stop on the Highway. Where you going? Where did you come from? How long have you been there?

Those three simple questions have helped me locate and seize Thousands of pounds of Marijuana, Hundreds of Kilos of Cocaine, Meth, and Heroin.

But hey I'd hate to have to hurt someones feelings by asking a simple question. Maybe I should stop.

They don't need to take the guns... All they need to do is take the bullets. Much easier then taking the guns. If I'm not mistaken they're already trying. Back in 09-10 Hillary's state department had made it illegal to make any new brass and the gov started selling brass to the chinese in mass quantities. I would have to go back and brush up on my knowledge of the whole thing, but I think I'm correct. Anyway's if they make owning bullets prohibitively expensive interest in firearms would wane to the point that gun lobbies would weaken and the next step would be to attack ammunition ownership through various legislation much like they've done in western Europe where you have to account for every bullet at all times. Guns would become usless.

There is way to much information to prove Bin Laden had nothing to do with 9-11. If you actually research and ignore the news. I never believed that for one second. Let the insults why about conspiracy theory's.
