    Why am I a target?

Lately my work has been taking me to Brownsville, Halringen and McAllen area. I have grown accustomed to being pulled over atleast 1 time on the way home and don't know why or what I'm doing to arrouse suspicion. Always the same routine, cop will walk up and ask for drivers liscense and insurance, when he see's I'm not from the area the interrogation begins on business down south. Normally the questions last about 5 minutes until my liscense comes back clear and I'm sent on my way. I am always asked if I have a weapon in the vehicle and I answer, "Yes, there is a pistol between the seat on my right side. Would you like for me to step out of the truck?" Their response has always been, "No your fine, I'll be back in a moment." I have never had a problem with this and don't mind the stop, until coming home Wednesday afternoon. Normally the highway patrol pulls me over but this time a cop in Falfurias pulled me over. I pulled over in a gas station parking lot immediately after he turned on his lights, rolled down all 4 windows and put my hands on the steering wheel like always. Instead of coming to the window he stood behind the truck and motioned for me to exit the vehicle and come to the rear. As I approached him he asked for DL and ins. which I gave him and a lengthy interrogation began of my business in the valley. Once he was satisfied with my answers he asked about any waepons in the vehicle and I gave the usual reponse. He asked for permission to see it and I responded "Absolutely". But first we had to determine there were no weapons on my person as I was being frisked. After spending about 5 minutes in my truck he comes to the back and asks for my CHL. I told him I do not have a CHL to which he responded I could go to jail for having a loaded firearm in the truck. The first thing that went through my mind was "THE HELL I CAN!". Thankfully that was not the first thing that came out of my mouth because only 1 of us had handcuffs and a pistol on them, and it wasn't me. So I explained to him how I must have misunderstood the law and the hwpatrol never had an issue with it but I would be sure to unload it. Last thing I needed was to spend the night in Falfurias jail.

I'm glad he sent me on my way but did not appreciate being hassled. Am I misunderstanding the law or was he incorrect?
BTW, I was pulled over for not using my blinker when I changed lanes about 1/2 mile before I was pulled over.

It doesn't have to be unloaded. Do you get pulled over that often?

Possession of a handgun in a vehicle, like many laws, are clear as mud!

You are correct, in that a CHL is not needed. I believe it has to do with traveling through a couple of counties or something but it is hard to proof.

Just get rid of the bull nutz and stacks and everything should go back to normal!

You don't have to tell him if you have a weapon in the car.

Maybe your vehicle is common among law breakers in the area.

I'd start taking badge numbers and start talking harassment.

There is no travel requirement. You can have a pistol in your vehicle according to state law. Unfortunately many DA's are determined to follow in the Barrack Hussein's footsteps and totally ignore the law since they don't agree with it. You will still get arrested in some jurisdictions if the cop feels like it or has been instructed to.

I travel in the RGV frequently and have yet to be pulled over. I see all kinds of LEO all over the place too. Do you have dark windows? Anything about your vehicle that stands out?

                          Yes I do.

No nutz or stacks, 2010 Dodge that looks like the day I drove it off the lot.

I knew I was right, but was not about to argue the point until I had cuffs on.
