I looking at buying a 2006 F-250 with 58k miles. What's the scoop on this engine? I've called numerous diesel repair shops and the all said the same thing. The 04-05 were problems. Newer ones are good. This dealer also offers a lifetime power train warranty. Thoughts?

I just sold an 06' with the 6.0.... Great truck, do they have a few known issues, yes they do.... If I was given the opportunity to buy another at a good price I would not hesitate... If you go into it knowing the issue and being prepared, you can solve all the issues at once and save a ton of money in shop fees. That's exactly what I did and would do it the same again, I knew of the issues and waited till I had the first issue (@98K miles) at that time I went ahead and had all the stuff done to "bullet proof" the truck. IE; ARP studs, new HPOP, EGR delete, Coolant flush, head gaskets, IPR valve, Blue spring upgrade, Etc (long list).... Also had MBRP exhaust put on the truck along with a SCT tuner to be able to bypass the EGR code.... Out the door was $5200 and that included towing to their shop in Houston from Conroe, not a bad price IMO b/c they only had to remove the cab once... I know folks that have done all the issues as they came up and it gets expensive quick b/C you are paying the labor each time to remove the cab...
My opinion after having said truck, I would buy the right truck in a second but go into it knowing the first issue it would get hauled back to PSM in Houston to have all the knowns repaired and keep the truck a till the wheels fell off...
