I have heard and by the above simple google search, it seems that a convenient issue within some software is causing this...and what I read is that it was not just suspect on verizon phone....it's always amazing the testing they put into these phones only to have issues like this that don't really affect the functionality of the phone but always seem to mysteriously pad the bottom line of the carrier when the new iphones come out....

Both Verizon and AT&T have essentially made people switch over to data usage plans upon phone upgrades. The unlimited plans are grandfathered as long as you choose not to upgrade your phone. It puts people in a tight spot whenever a new Iphone or similar comes out. People just want the new phone and go ahead and sign off on a limited data plan. Now, these plans are typically a few gigs, so unless you stream video regularly, it's not that big of a deal.
On a side note, I got a new Droid a few months back and was able to keep my unlimited data plan with Verizon. I was in the store almost two hours bickering with the manager and he finally gave in and made it work. I know a few others who have tried as of lately and have had no such luck. I think I just got lucky as Verizon had only recently started that policy when I upgraded. The thing that ****** me off the most was the sales associate didn't tell me about the potential data limitation until almost the point of me actually signing the contract.

I only use tapatalk for TBH, and occasionally look at facebook.
sometimes use the maps
I usually very conservative with my phone data for this reason, is there anyway to find out my detailed data usage for the month, is this something that is on my bill?
A few months back, I used almost 200MB in one day using the maps for about an hour or so total. I have the 2GB plan, so it wasn't a problem for me.
I don't stream music or videos and I usually use around 1GB a month playing online games, email, internet, etc.
You should get a text at 65% and 90%.
200MB isn't a lot of data and you can quickly run through that if you're using any data daily.

I got the message for the first time yesterday as well. I have changed nothing regarding my normal usage.. I agree, something ain't right. I was one of those forced off my unlimited plan at the last phone upgrade. If I could get better service I would dump them in a heartbeat. They know they have you over a barrel.
