It was not a friend of mine so I am not sure if this person was a vegan or not. They just did not think hunting was right. Which prompted me to get more knowledge on the topic so that next time this happens I can stand up for hunters and possibly make them see just how good hunting actually is for nature and that nowhere in the bible does it say hunting is a sin.

I guess your friends (non-hunters) think cows are made out of papier-mache. If I`m not mistakes,cows were created by god.

Really, this topic isn't that hard. The Bible is a reference to the way we live. It doesn't talk about EVERY possible thing you can do right or wrong but it does give us God's laws and a general guideline for how to live.

If your coworker feels that it's being a bad Christian to hunt, ask them from where in God's word they came to this conclusion. You then have an opportunity to discuss actual Biblical text with them and that's a win-win for everyone involved.

This past year I started trying to lead a more Godly lifestyle and I agree I have a lot to learn and do need to read more. But if what you are saying is correct then people would not go to small groups to learn more about the bible. I chose the GS to hold a small group discussion on the topic because I figured there would be some great input that would allow me to learn even more.

I think it's great that you asked a question on something you were unsure of, I also think your response here shows what type of Christian you are.
I also believe it shows how "Christian" the poster is who posted the original comment... Some people are just rude.

This person is probably looking at it like you/we/I are killing these animals for no real reason other than sport.
Killing something for food so you can survive is one thing, but going out and killing something because its a hobby is another.

I've encountered ^^^^^^ line of thinking many times. There is SOME truth to it. We are not hunting to feed our families (not like they did 2000 years ago) you are not saving any money by eating what you kill vs buying a steak at the store.
Add together Lease Cost, Fuel, Bow, Arrows, Corn, Food and drink while at the lease, Processing Cost..... No one here is saving money by eating wild game.

Hunting therefore IS a sport. It's a hobby, we do it because we enjoy it. No one here says "Oh man, I have to go hunting tomorrow because we are almost out of food. I sure wish I didnt have to hunt"
Of course we dont say that. We hunt because its fun!

So now we get into the question of, is killing an animal for sport something God would want us to do?

I am a Christian and I love to hunt but other non hunters say it is wrong that I am killing an animal that God has created. I have looked online and have not found anything to better help me defend myself when it comes to this topic. I'm not sure if there is a thread on this already and if there is please direct me to it. Whoever is telling you this is "NOT" of sound mind...You can't fix stupid, people like to twist the word of God to fit there needs.. Move on with your life and thank God each time you go hunting!

What is meant by Genesis 9:4-5? 4"But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.5 and for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand and accounting from every animal...

Those verses simply refer to the fact that they could not eat meat that had not been bled out. Verse 5 is a reference to the fact that animals would become dangerous to man as well, which had not happened before this time. BTW, the prohibition against eating the blood was also made in Acts to the Gentile believers.

i would retort by asking said christians if they are strict vegetarians, the response is "no" then they should take the burger out of their pie hole so they can insert their foot.

If that is their belief maybe they should just not eat all together as they might be destroying a plant or vegetable or fruit that god created or consuming water that was created by him. They should not live in a house as it was built with trees that he created. Should not accept any form of money due to the same thing of things being used to create it. The list goes on and on. You should never feel guilty about hunting. Most hunters are Christians.
