Deer seem to have a sense as to when the season starts...they have to, it happens way too often.
Yep... when all of a sudden the woods lite up at 06:30 with vehicles and 4 wheelers. The deer say... oh yeah...them dudes with the bows are coming... let's go hide for a while.
Dude. It's early . I have shot many many deer with my bow and nearly all was 15 yrds or less. If your still, quiet, and well concealed 15 yrds is fine.
One thing that cameras don't show is the deer circling down wind of the feeder to see if someone is there. They may have come in and smelled something they didn't like and moved on.
Or like others have said the acors have replaced the corn.
Don't get disappointed so quick Philip. This just wasn't an optimum week end. I would get back as soon as I could if I were in your shoes.
Yeah? I appreciate it, Bob. I gotta make up with my wife cause i'm hoping to come back this weekend. We will see how that goes, from what I have going on, more likely not. .

I know it's early but I'm eager beaver! .
No fair! You hear em coming in long ways. I see em when they come in on top of me. My hunting area is full of sticks, brushes and junk stuff that I can't peer through to see if they're coming in or not.
I have tri and GB by feeder. I use black outfit inside GB. I try to be still and stealthy but sometime I'm second guessing myself. Lol.
I better get to bed and get at em again tomorrow!
I hope the deer think everyone's done hunting on workdays. Cause I'm still hunting but shhh, they don't know that.
Hang in there Phillip, it was not the best weekend for bow hunting.
I sat Sat afternoon and this afternoon, did not see more than a few doves and a couple of squirrels but my daughter sat with me both times
We did see a couple of deer on the way back up to the house today.
I prefer to be 30-40 yards from the feeder. The deer like to circle the feeders while looking at the feeder. Most of the time they are 20-30 yards from the feeder. That puts them on top of 20 yards stands. Yes it does make it tough if they go right to the feeder from the wrong angle. I like to hand corn a spot to get them to stop. Good luck
Dogs most likely aren't a factor although very annoying.
Probably weather, acorns and maybe even traffic in the woods has em stirred up.
I agree with the acorns and traffic in the woods. I'm on a small lease and I had hogs coming in like clock work daily and a week before opening day the hogs shut down completely and corn built up for a week straight. I was ticked off because I was hoping to see a hog or deer. Acorns were everywhere around the feeder, but they are also everywhere else. The lease owner said he has seen neighboring hunters driving in and out of their properties over the last few weeks. So I got boogered by acorns and neighboring hunters.
Don't get me wrong about hunting. Of course, it's hunting and having fun. I'm always for it. I always say that but like I said, not knowing why nothing showed up.
I am going to explain a little bit more about my property. There's very few people that lives in this area.
Lots of gas and oil field. My property is on it. Vast of the land is owned by LCRA and Oil/Gas company. My neighbors don't bowhunt. My immediate neighbors don't, either. I'm the only bowhunter in about 3 miles radius. After that. It's an empty space with cattle.
It's very surprising to see this way cause they are always moving. No matter what. Even when I just pulled away from feeder area after working on it. Go back in camp. It would show up.
But then again, it may be an acorns that keeps em inside the woods.
Many thanks, for reviving my motivation this morning. I'm heading out now.
It was slow for us this weekend too. I killed the only deer I saw, my son hunted all weekend and only saw one deer, and 2 other guys hunting with us got skunked too. They are not eating corn here because of the acorns. The moon was full too. I think it will get better, just wasn't great weather this weekend.
