    I should have aimed low

5 young bucks came out this morning and I flung an arrow at an older 6 point as a cull and darn it if he didn't duck my arrow. Watching the event unfold before my eyes was similar to watching a video in slow motion. He couldnt have timed it better. It was a 27 yard shot and with 4 other bucks and two does in the area I should have anticipated the tension in the air. The funniest thing happened after the shot. One of the younger bucks came back to the feeder and licked the arrow as it was sticking in the ground. Then he sniffed it a little more and hauled out of there. Weird...maybe next time.

That's why it's called hunting and not killing. Better luck next time.

That sucks, but atleast you got to see something strange happen that otherwise you never would have seen. You will have the chance to hit another deer, but I got a dollar that says you will never see a deer lick one of your arrows again.

Aim at the armpit. If they duck you still catch lungs. If they dont dead deer in site.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Its one of those live and learn type of situations. I am just glad I even got the opportunity to take a shot. Y'all are right it happens and I can only learn from it.

Murphy's law, If you would have aimed low he wouldn't have jumped string and the arrow would have passed under him.
