My favorite one is when people ask you. Did you catch anything this weekend?

"A deer can't jump the string if the bow is 300FPS or faster."
"Speed is more important than placement because it allows for a pass through." With this in mind followed the quote of "speed kills faster than placement."
I've heard the "they have ears in their hooves and is the reason they stomp when alarmed" as well from a guy in the hill country. He couldn't show me where they were when I handed him one but he "knew" they had them.

I also saw a doe jump over a high fence problem was she was jumping into the high fenced property, now I know where our deer are going to!
Also was told deer don't move during the day if they had a full moon the evening before, daughters buck in my avatar put that rumor to rest!Last edited by whitetailfanatic; 02-17-2008, 01:08 PM.

I was dressed in full camo one day at the college dorms and a guy comes up to me and asks "where are you going fishing?" My buddy and I just looked at each other and I said (with as straight a face as I could manage) to the guy we're goin hunting man.
The most outlandish thing I have ever been told "deer don't taste good"!!!!

After a duck hunt one morning I went to the local donut shop. The owner asked me if I was deer hunting and I told him no. This converstation went on for a few min. and then he told me the deer in america don't taste good at all. He is asian of some sort but told me the deer over there are better tasting and contributing it to the season a deer is killed in. In his country they hunt in the summer.

My company has, for a number of years, thinned out thousands of dead live oaks in and around the Comfort/Kerrville area and Morgan/Meridian area...in both areas and by different ranch owners...I have been TOLD that my presence there was problematic to their hunting season!
Well, I guess someone should inform the DEER as well. Many times we would fell a live oak, and begin cutting it up only to have to be careful not to hit the deer. Many times does, fawns and even multiple bucks would feed on the mossy substance (not ball moss) that grew on the branches and trunk. A couple seasons I was asked to stop work until after the season was over...seems I was the scape goat for some poor hunting results!
