What is the most outlandish thing someone has told you about deer...

Everyone has been told something (true or false) that has to stick out in their mind as off the wall or just downright funny...

    What's yours?

Someone told me one time that a client asked him...

"At what age does a deer turn into an elk?"

My friend calmly looked at this person and replied... "4"

My cousin told me he has seen deer crossing under an 8 lane interstate highway by crawling through a creek culvert.

I've seen'em use those cattle crossings under the highway.

Had a lease manager tell me one time that "deer can't swim".

My grandpa always said if it was a new moon you'd better shoot him in the neck if you don't want him to run off. Don't matter if you shoot him in the heart on a new moon he ain't gonna drop in his tracks unless you shoot him in the neck.
Me & my buddy would always imitate my grandpa if someone shot a deer & it ran off, "musta been a new moon". It was sometimes.
I saw this happen a few ocassions too. Folklore or not? hmmm

I personally enjoyed someone telling me that the way to age a deer was to see how much their ankles bent...

When I was in high school, we got a new Ag teacher that was straight out of college and in our wildlife class, she told us that deer eat fish.....

in almost perfect unison, a "what the hell???" was asked... and she replied...

"it's right here in this book... deer catch and eat fish"

People use Steroids to make high fence deer huge.

Honey bees don't sting at night.

Some people on my lease park their trucks and 4 wheelers beside or under their box blinds and say that it does not bother the deer. These same people almost never shoot anything but they won't admit that their vehicle had anything to do with it.

They don't catch them but I have seen photos of deer eating on dead fish on the coast....maybe the salt? But catch them...NO.

I read in a hunting publication once that deer dont like to leave tracks and will avoid walking in areas that leave tracks.
Dumbest thing I ever read .

Best stand on a day lease was on a fence line and I parked the 4-wheeler right under the box blind. Deer didn't care...not that they got a chance to see much of the ATV if they were a shooter.
