    Guest at camp without license

My wife and I have a new baby so her parents will be going hunting with us some this year to watch the baby while we hunt. One of the places that we hunt is new to us and I was told by a neighbor that the the local game warden will make a couple of camp visits to do checks. I have no problem with this at all, however I have a question. My inlaws do not hunt therefor they have no reason to have a hunting license.

What is the law or rule for non licensed guest at camp. I can see the question of "prove that you are not hunting".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would contact that local game warden and talk to him about it since he will be the deciding factor.......

No law against go camping and being a grandparent.

          Campers don't need hunting license.

Won't be a problem. unless you have deer hanging at the camp that out number the number of hunters you have and/or said deer are without tags.

Yep - Contact the GW in ADVANCE and let him know the story if he is that type - Grandparents watching baby so mom and dad can hunt. Shouldn't be a big deal however. We have 3 hunters at our camp and typically 3-6 others including spouses and kids. Never had a problem.

                That's a two way street.

                "Prove" I was hunting.

Don't you have to be actively hunting?

Man your first sentence had me all confused. Call game warden before hand and tell them what is happening at camp. That way you have your bases covered beforehand.

i wouldn't worry about it, as long as they aren't out hunting with no license they will be o.k....no laws against sitting around in camp that i know of.

My thoughts exactly. This is just a new situation for me so I wanted to make sure anything we do is 100% legal.

As long as you explain up front that these people were not hunting you won't have a problem. No need to contact a game warden to tell them some people in camp are not hunting.

Just make sure everything is tagged properly.....tag stays with the meat and keep proof of sex. Take along some WRD (wildlife resource documents) just in case you need them.
