Shallow sport is wet and rough rider but nice.

Texas gulf coast is also a great boat that will run real skinny.
The recon may run in 6", but it won't run 85 mph. The stingray will run those speeds but not that shallow. They are slick boats but for the money they should be.

I'd look into the 21-23' cat boats. Very impressive all around performance. Fished with a guide in POC that run a shoalcat and we did 6" all day long and it handled the chop very well. I would also look into the Transport SVT. They are making a 22 and 24' model now and i have heard good things. Starting to see them alot in POC.

I've had both both a SS and an SCB and there's a place for each, my SS would get up in 6" of water and my SCB takes at least 12", they both run in about the same depth of water. The SCB walks across the top of rough water, that's the main reason I upgraded, loved my SS but got tired of getting beat up.

Gulfcoast seems rough because the console is too far forward and they're wet, lots of spray.

I have owned most of the boats mentioned above. Majak redfish, gulf coast, El Pescador to be specific and none are better than the shallow sport in my opinion. I did ride in a Haynie and gene at shoalwater was really ****** when I went with a shallow sport instead of his cat. the shallow sport 24v I purchased has been 30 miles offshore and fished all the back lakes around POC without a problem. it is smooth and shallow. so you guys who dont think you can get both it can happen. I did not like the cat hulls in the surf or offshore water comes over the sides when it gets just a little rough. I fish west matagorda lots and can get very rough just like west galveston bay and this boat has not problem getting me home safe and dry with both kidneys in their original location.
        thats my 2 cents.

Sorry the correct infor on the SCB was 7" to draft

20' Stingray, 300hp yamaha, 23 pitch prop, 1/4 tank of gas, 2 people we hit 78mph.

          Great boat but cost 65,000$

It also depends on what part of the Texas Coast that you plan on running the most. I see Spring as the OP's location.

For instance, if you plan on fishing Galveston Bay complex, a skinny water boat is not necessarily the best option provided a good portion of the bay system being deeper water. The more popular boats up here have higher sides and slightly deeper V hulls or tunnel hull designs. Good options include - Haynie Bigfoot, Blue Wave, Boston Whaler, Kenner, etc. You can also put jack plats on some of these designs and they will go shallower than many would think. These types of hulls allow you the most access around Galveston including jetty fishing and short offshore runs.

If you plan on fishing more South, then the cat style boats, majeks, Haynie cat, Shoalwater, etc, would be a better bet.
