    Shallow Sport ?

Looking for opinions on Shallow Sports from people who own them and not trying to sell me one. What can you tell me. How shallow can you actually get up? Wet, dry, rough, smooth? How shallow can you run?

Go to the website. The videos will show you. They are amazing. My friends husband from ATM owns the company. They build a great product.

pretty good boats and they will run and get up in as shallow as advertised. I will say the ones I have been in have had a pretty rough ride but it depends on what model you are looking at. The top deck has seemed a little thin on the one I have been on and have flexed when I across it. but in all they are pretty dang good boats if you want a shallow running boat to fish the flats.

Great boat most models little wet, little rough but you will be super happy with it. It's like a great 4x4, you will push the limits till you stick it! If you want a true shallow water boat get it

Then tell me about the Haynie also. What makes them special? Are they comparable boats and just a matter of preference? We stay pretty shallow and currently run a 16' J-Craft but would like something that has more room and crosses the bay a little better.

I wouldnt get a shallow sport if I was gona do alot of fishing or crossing the bays alot, gona be a pretty rough ride. but if your gona be in the flats great boat and like said above its like having a 4x4. Haynies are a very well ade boat and I have heard nothing but good things about their service department. you can get the deck laid out exactly how you want it. Pretty much a custom deck. I have been in their bay boats and their cats and all have fished awesome. only thing I dont like about them is that they have a wood deck. It is marine grade wood and completely glassed in but.... where are you gona be fishing?

For shallow water boat I would go Majek! I have riden in many and known many people that have them. They are rough in rough water, but were not made for big water.

Solid boats and the hull will last forever.

Don't know if I could say that about a ShallowSport. Years ago ShallowSport had stringer problems and fuel tank leaks. They have since fixed all that and i have no experience with them.

If you are shopping around check out the Shoalwater 23 Cat as well. Shallowsports are good boats and run shallow and get up shallow. The few that I have been on do not track straight. It always feels like the boat is off balance. You move someone to the other side and does the same thing to that side. Just a weird feeling when you are running.

I have fished off 4 different shallow sports in pt Mansfield and thought they were great! Ran shallow, got up shallow and rode good.

Now would I have one up here in the gal bay system. To deep and rough!

A "cat" type hull will handle the chop and run skinny. Shoalwater or Transport would be my preference.

                              Transport boat are all fiberglass.
