    exit interview

So... I'm leaving my job because of a long list of things... In my exit interview should I tell our HR person the real reasons I'm leaving?

Like the forced uncompensated overtime, fact I was doing what should be 3 people's jobs, and so on and such forth...

Should I bring that up or should I just let things go...?

Dont burn bridges. Shake there hand and tell them youre not here to do everyone elses job. Be nice to your HR, there going to be nice to you when you need them as a refrence. For your "boss" just give him a high five when you walk past him. Never look back

Hint a little, but don't throw it in their face. You don't want to burn a bridge. It will not help you by telling them. You won't work there anymore.

I did tell my last company I was leaving because I didn't get the promised promotion upon completion of my masters and because they were laying off everyone around me.

I would but I'd find a way to do it respectfully, as not to burn any bridges.

honest but respectable. Large company HR departments rarely give references anymore... only that you worked for them between X and X dates and if you are eligible for rehire.

Thanks for the input. I'll do my best to leave on good terms. My time there was great, just this past year has sucked when my boss left, and someone on my level left I got all their work without a promotion.

Do you have a job lined up waiting for you ?

In this economy, I would NOT leave a job unless I had one gauranteed and start time in < 2 weeks

I've seen to many ppl leave for greener pastures and still looking for work

Taking some time off from work before I go get my masters.

Want to spend more time with the wife and kids.

I would tell them. Maybe they don't know this is happening. If they don't know, they can't fix it. Also if you were "forced" to work unpaid overtime, you may have a case against them in court depending on your exemptions.

I could do that, but it's a community center that I grew up in, and worked in. My kids will still attend camp and everything here.

Don't want my kids to suffer or other kids to suffer because they took advantage of my good nature.

This is what i was thinking. They probably don't know what is going on if its a large company.

Look at it from an owners standpoint, you are doing him/her an injustice by not allowing them to know why they are loosing a valuable employee. I guarantee the HR person is hoping to hear the truth. Like others have said, no reason to go in there hot headed and say something you will regret. Take a deep breath and calmly explain your side.

Sounds good. When I leave 9 full time staff members (Department Directors and Ast Directors) will have left this year...
