Black bears migrated from the Ozarks to SE Oklahoma, black bear season opened on SE Oklahoma i believe in 2009 with a limit of i think 20 bears. This year there is no limit, except the season is only 16 days. This is our first year on the place. Several TBH'rs are on the lease with us so hopefully there will be plenty of Ldp's come October. Tell Billy i said hello1

Wow, I didn't realize there was a population like that in OK. Good luck TB!!

I live in bear country and don't care if I ever see one close enough to shoot, at least when I am only armed with my bow.

Grizzly came through our area Saturday evening and split the elk herd up on us overnight. Buddy (Mike)we hunted with was elk hunting in a tree stand and a grizzly showed up and wouldn't leave him. He threw limbs, yelled etc....nothing. After a hour stand off, he called a friend who hiked in with a rifle and had to shoot around him twice before he moved off. Even then he only went 100 yards and watched Mike come off the tree, as he buddy stood guard with a gun.

                            Good luck,
