Bears Bears Bears!

A few weeks ago, a buddy called and invited me to get on a hunting lease in SE Oklahoma. He said the place is supposed to have some nice bucks on it and bears.

When I heard the word "bears" - I was sold!

I've never hunted that part of the world so I sorta had my doubts about the number of bears, but the price was right and I decided to take a chance.

I went up a couple weeks ago and set up a couple stands, a deer feeder, and a bear bait. I put a camera on each and decided that the camera would decide if I went to the expense of buying a bear tag or not.

A couple of my sons and I went up today to top off the feeders and check the trail cameras. Boy - did I have a nice surprise - BEARS! I had bears on both feeders and checked a couple of cameras for my buddy and he had bears on both his too! Even had a hog picture on one of my cameras.

I didn't have any deer on the cameras but did see several while riding around today.

I've got just the spot picked out for my bear skin rug! Hope I can make it happen.

TB that is way to cool. Few people get to observe a bear in the wild. Looks like a great year is just around the corner.

Good luck getting to your stand in the dark. I hunt in the county next to ya and it's nerve racking sometimes when they woof woof at ya getting in your stand. You'll wish you just see a snake instead Best of luck to ya. There are some monster bucks roaming around there.

Nice! I went back up last weekend and only had a few does, a spike, 1 pig, and 4 horses. I plan on going back up to check my cameras again on the 15th. I am hoping to have something different on my cameras besides those wild horses. If you don't mind me asking, what did you use for bear bait?
