Well, I sat out in the woods and blew like a son of a gun for about 2 hours today. Still not sure if I'm doing it right, no yotes but I did have 2 red tail hawks circling above me for about 30 min.

Think I'll try a diffrent spot this evening, maybe about 5:00 or 5:30.

Good luck, KFD82. Hope you get rid of some of those pesky varmints.

          Kfd82,
The most effective way to remove those coyotes would be by trapping them.
          Thats no fun.

          -10-12 minutes a stand.

-1/2 mile to 1 full mile between stands. (depending on terrain)

-Let the coyote hunt you. (blow call a short sequence and wait a few minutes and repeat)

-Scan with your eyes and not your head. (stay still)

-wind is important. Most say to keep a open view downwind. I prefer to cover both sides. Most of the coyotes we kill are hunting by sight.

-The best advice I can give you is to find someone with experiance to go hunting a few times with. Offer to buy lunch, help with gas. This will shorten your learning curve.

          have fun.

As far as using the call: The preditors ears are really good, so you don't have to put a lot of effort into the call, or make it sound really loud. Coyotes can hear a mans voice up to 3/4 of a mile or more during normal contions.

Always set up so that you can see down wind a long ways. It is a rare coyote that won't circle down wind and then be gone after he gets a snoot full of your sent.

I like to go with at least one other person. This way, you can watch each others back incase the coyote decides to sneek in the back door.
